Let me first add a disclaimer…..I am NOT a morning person!
That said, on the rare occasions I am up and out of bed early, I am always in awe of how the early morning world is slowly stirring and stretching awake. If you live in the city, smells of morning baking and coffee brewing can be caught in the streets, deliveries are being made and there is a sense of preparation for the day to come.
In the country or in the mountains though, there is a vibe of the world emerging from the cocoon of darkness and unfolding the wings of the day. The dew is fresh on the grass and ferns, a refreshing fog or mist is just lifting from the edges and valleys of the mountains, and steam is slowly dissipating off of the water of the lake or river.
Nature’s Etch-A-Sketch shake where what was written the day before seems to be forgotten and the anticipation of what lies ahead is present and emerging.
There is no other feeling quite like this and though it quickly fades into the hustle and bustle of the day, catching a glimpse of the day waking up always sets the tone for my actions and serves as a reminder that there is something to be said about starting everything with that sense of fresh perspective and possibility.
